It is always fun to see what people thought the future would look like back in the 1940's or 1950's. There are many pictures of displays at World Fairs that told of a time when breakfast would make itself and magical images would be broadcast to your home on a space aged box. The more interesting stories are how some scientists take the ideas behind those seemingly futuristic tech gadgets and turn then into today's common household items. Today the microwave oven makes breakfast in minutes and we recline in front of the television every night to watch entertaining programming beamed to our homes through satellites in outer space.

People can watch television on screens small enough to fit on a wristwatch and cars that can convert to boats are a novelty now but they could become commonplace before long.

In some cases tech gadgets being created by science are out pacing those in the science fiction movies. Not too long ago Japanese scientists unveiled robots that can play soccer and are able to learn to play songs on a piano. The race is on and it is the general public that wins with the constant introduction of new tech gadgets into the marketplace every year.
